Fox co-hosts Mark Ingram, Matt Leinart, Rob Stone and Brady Quinn talk football and get fans ready for the NCAA football game between the Cincinnati Bearcats and Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 during Fox’s ‘Big Noon Kickoff Show’ at Bearcat Commons on the University of Cincinnati’s campus in Cincinnati.

As the season moves forward the race for the 2023 Big Ten champion heats up. The Penn State football team is very in the mix for the crown this season. The latest AP Poll rankings list the Nittany Lions as the No. 6 team in the country. But they will get their chance to climb the rankings over the next several weeks as they face both Ohio State and Michigan. But before these matchups take place Matt Leinart has seen enough as he picked the Nittany Lions to win the Big Ten crown this season.

Although the Nittany Lions were off on Saturday, that didn’t stop the hot takes from pouring in. During FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff on Saturday, the crew discussed the race for the Big Ten title. But it was Matt Leinart who had very high praise for the Penn State football team, he believes they could be a future Big Ten champion.

Leinart said, “If we’re talking about who you’ve beaten and how well you’ve looked, it’s Penn State for me. And I know Ohio State has the best win but collectively we just saw right there in the graphic they’re the only team in the country with four double-digit wins against Power 5 teams. They’re absolutely dominating everybody they play, they’re arguably the best defense in the country to this point. Offensively, they’re not there yet but we know the firepower that they have with their quarterback and those powerful running backs. I think there are questions for all three teams but right now for me, it’s Penn State.”

It’s hard to argue with this logic. At the end of the day, it’s only a matter of time before Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State will face off against each other. But it’s nice to hear some praise for the Nittany Lions for a change instead of doubt.
