This wide receiver entered the transfer portal on Tuesday evening who has family ties to a 2024 Penn State football commit. Could this help the Nittany Lions land this top target?

It’s that time of year. With the college football regular season behind us, the transfer portal is heating up. The Penn State football team will need to be as diligent as ever working making moves this offseason. The Nittany Lions will likely lose several key players to the NFL Draft and/or graduation. This means James Franklin and his staff will need to be active in the portal. An area of need on offense is wide receiver for the Nittany Lions. Last night Kris Mitchell who is the brother of 2024 Penn State commit Jon Mitchell entered his name in the transfer portal.

Should Penn State target this transfer WR with family ties to incoming commit?

We heard it all summer, and it leaked into the 2023 season. The wide receiver room at Penn State needed improvement, and it’s clear and obvious the room needs help.

Well, perhaps help is on the way if James Franklin and Marques Hagans choose to pursue Kris Mitchell. The redshirt junior entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal as he has chosen to leave Florida International University where he just had a career year.

In 2023, Kris Mitchell accounted for 64 receptions for 1,118 yards and 7 receiving touchdowns.

Kris is the brother of Jon Mitchell, who is a Penn State commit in the 2024 recruiting class and will join the Nittany Lions next year. Jon Mitchell made his commitment to the Penn State football team on April 1st, 2023. He is a four-star cornerback from Jacksonville, Florida.

With his younger brother already committed to Penn State football, could we see the Mitchell brothers team up in State College?
