BREAKING: Penn State RB Trey Potts Declares for the NFL Draft

The Penn State football team is starting to line up key additions for the 2024 season. But before the season gets here other Nittany Lions have to decide on their future. Tonight, running back Trey Potts made his decision to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft after one season in State College. Potts becomes the 10th Nittany Lion to go pro this offseason.

Trey Potts joined the Penn State football team ahead of the 2023 season after playing for four seasons at Minnesota. A native of Williamsport, PA was able to return home and represent the Blue and White this season. Potts did not get a ton of opportunities but did rush for 155 yards and scored three touchdowns this season.

He put out an official statement tonight Potts said, “First and foremost, I want to thank God for guiding me through this incredible journey, for the blessings and opportunities that have paved the way for my football career.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to my parents, whose steady support and countless sacrifices have been the foundation of my success. I also want to extend my appreciation to my family, friends, and the incredible supporters who have stood by me throughout my football journey. I am blessed to have such a strong support system.

To the coaches, staff, and amazing fans at Penn State, thank you for giving a kid from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the opportunity to wear the blue and white and fulfill his dream of becoming a Nittany Lion. The memories and experiences will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I also want to thank and express my gratitude to the University of Minnesota for four unforgettable years. The memories and relationships made during my time there will be cherished for a lifetime.

With that being said, I am excited to announce my decision to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. The lessons learned, the challenges overcome, and the memories creative have prepared me for my next chapter.”

The 2024 Penn State RB room

With Trey Potts off to the NFL let’s take a look at the 2024 running back room for the Nittany Lions. The headliners will still be Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen. Then, 2023 recruits London Montgomery and Cam Wallace will be in their second year in the system. Additionally, the Nittany Lions will add Quinton Martin and Corey Smith from the 2024 recruiting class. Overall the depth is there to have a talented running back room in 2024.
