The curtain closed on the 2023 college football conference championship games last night. The Penn State football team sat and watched the Michigan Wolverines win their third straight Big Ten Title. Penn State will not compete for a national championship this season, so what’s the next best thing? A New Year’s Six bowl bid. The Nittany Lions will have to wait until later this afternoon to determine their bowl fate. But they know where they stand in the AP Poll rankings ahead of bowl season. Where did the Nittany Lions end up?

The Penn State football team did not take the field yesterday during championship Saturday. However, other dominos in the college football world fell into place. The College Football Playoff committee had to provide one last ranking of the top 25 teams which Penn State entered this weekend at No. 10. They also held the same position in the AP Poll.

The conference championship games, started on Friday night when the Washington Huskies defeated the Oregon Ducks 34-31 to win the PAC12 Championship and earn a college football playoff berth. Then, on Saturday the Texas Longhorns took care of their business routing Oklahoma State 49-21. Michigan took care of Iowa in a 26-0 Big Ten Championship game. In the most anticipated game of the weekend, the SEC Championship gave us a chaotic scenario that people did not expect. Alabama defeated Georiga 27-24 to win the SEC, but the debate became ever more challenging after the ACC Championship game. Florida State with their third-string quarterback found a way to defeat Louisville and win the ACC. With 4 spots in the College Football Playoff and 6 teams that deserve a shot the committee just made a tough decision. While the other remaining teams will fight for a New Year’s Six Bowl.
