The Maryland football team has tried to sustain success for several years now. The Terrapins typically start 4-0 or 5-0, and then fall apart during Big Ten play. This becomes more challenging when the Big Ten will welcome Washington, Oregon, USC, and UCLA to the conference in 2024. But the Terps did get stronger yesterday, as the 2024 Penn State football opponent added MJ Morris via the transfer portal Wednesday evening. Morris, who is transferring from NC State, had shown flashes before redshirting this season.

Big Ten rival secures quarterback commitment from the portal

We have watched Taulia Tagoviloa under center for the Maryland football team for several seasons. But as his college football career comes to a close, the Terrapins have found their quarterback of the future in MJ Morris.

Morris entered the transfer portal from NC State, where he had success during his Sophomore season. In 2023 Morris threw for 719 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions in 4 games this season.

What’s the impact on Penn State?

The Penn State football team will face the challenge of potentially playing against transfer portal QB MJ Morris when the two schools meet in the final week of the regular season in 2024. That game will be played in Beaver Stadium, but how will the Nittany Lions look on defense next season?

It will be interesting to see who Penn State hires as their next defensive coordinator. On top of that, they will lose players such as Chop Robinson to the NFL draft. Others who we are awaiting decisions from include Kalen King, Curtis Jacobs, Adisa Isaac, and a few more players.
