Wide receiver is a position that the Penn State football team has to improve at in 2024. Players are one thing but coaches are another. Wide receivers coach Marques Hagans is entering his second year in the position and he has a lot to prove this year. However, James Franklin isn’t going to let him be stranded on his own island. Instead, Franklin has reunited with Mark Dupuis who will join the Nittany Lions in an offensive analyst role. Previously Dupuis was with Ricky Rahne at Old Dominion coaching wide receivers.

Mark Dupuis announced on social media on Tuesday that he will be returning to the Penn State football team. Dupuis started his coaching career at Bates College in Maine as a wide receivers coach. He then joined Joe Moorhead’s staff a Fordam as the wide receivers coach from 2014-2016. After his time at Fordham, he followed Moorhead to Penn State as a graduate assistant. That was until Ricky Rahne hired him to be the wide receivers coach at Old Dominion which is where he has spent the past few years. Now, on Tuesday he made the announcement that he will be returning to Happy Valley.

What does the addition mean?

Well, it’s obvious that Penn State needs help at wide receiver and two minds are greater than one. This feels like a sign for Coach Franklin to bring in another mind who is familiar with Penn State’s core values while helping current wide receivers coach Marques Hagans dial in his coaching. At the very least it allows the Nittany Lions to go into 2024 with even more experience coaching wide receivers.
