2025 QB ‘fully locked in’ on Penn State football commitment

Penn State football may have recently suffered a decommitment in the 2025 cycle, but the Nittany Lions’ lone QB commit in the class says he isn’t going anywhere.

Penn State football has suffered two decommitments in the 2025 recruiting class. Having one is more than a big enough blow, as it takes time to build and maintain these relationships with recruits. Jaelyne Matthews and Omari Gaines were both committed to the Nittany Lions at one time during their recruitment, but both players have decided to look for their college choice elsewhere. Now, lone 2025 Penn State QB commit Bekkem Kritza has announced that he is locked in for his future with the Nittany Lions.

2025 Penn State football QB commit reconfirms pledge

Bekkem Kritza made his commitment to the Penn State football team on November 14. He is currently listed as a three-star prospect and is a top-50 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He was previously one of the top ranked prospects in Colorado but he has decided to transfer to Miami Central in Florida ahead of his senior season.

Kritza stands at 6 foot 5, 182 pounds, which makes him an intriguing prospect for the Nittany Lions. Recently, there has been a lot of attention put on fellow 2025 quarterback Matt Zollers. The PA native has Penn State football in his top schools, which could lead to the Nittany Lions having two quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle if Zollers does commit.

How would a Zollers commitment impact Bekkem Kritza, and is he considering other options? He recently spoke with the Director of Recruiting at On3 Chad Simmons and confirmed that he will not waver from his pledge to Penn State.

“I mean I’m fully locked in,” Kritza said when asked of his commitment to Penn State. “There is no other option in my mind of where I want to go, of where home’s at to me. I feel like that has been solidified for a while now I can’t wait to get up there and get to work.”

What separates Penn State from other programs?

While the Nittany Lions have seen two players in the last several months decommit and look for their next school, what keeps the rest of the 2025 recruiting class committed to Penn State?

Simmons asked Kritza about this very topic, to which he said, “The constant communication they have with me. The constant communication Coach Franklin, Coach O’Brien, Coach K [Andy Kotelnicki]; they all reach out. The whole staff reaches out to check on how I’m doing, football stuff, daily life stuff. Just having that great connection, which I don’t have with other schools, that’s a big part that keeps me locked in.”
