On Wednesday, Penn State football announced its representatives for the 2023 Big Ten Media Days, which occur in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the end of July. The selections include stars and stalwarts from both sides of the ball, with Keaton Ellis and Adisa Isaac representing the Penn State defense and Olu Fashanu representing the Nittany Lion offense.

Penn State football will send Keaton Ellis, Olu Fashanu, and Adisa Isaac to represent the team at the Big Ten Media Days later this month, the program announced yesterday. The trio will, of course, be joined in Indianapolis by head coach James Franklin.

The Nittany Lions are sending two of their announced 2023 team captains, Ellis and Fashanu. State College native Keaton Ellis started all 13 games for Penn State last season. Ellis has made 72 total tackles in his four-year career, with 24 coming in 2022. The fifth-year senior safety also had two tackles for loss and seven passes defended last year.

Olu Fashanu is undoubtedly the highest profile of the three Nittany Lions heading to Indianapolis. A Walter Camp second-team All-American in 2022, Fashanu passed up a potential top 10 NFL Draft pick this spring to return to Penn State. The anchor of the left side of the offensive line, Fashanu allowed only seven pressures and no sacks in his eight starts before injury last year.

Rounding out the group is a potential breakout star, defensive end Adisa Isaac. Isaac earned third-team All-Big Ten honors in 2022 after missing all of 2021 due to injury. Isaac recorded 28 tackles last year, including 11 for loss, which was a team-best and good enough for sixth in the Big Ten.

Throughout the spring and summer, James Franklin has expressed that the leadership of the 2023 Penn State football team will look different from last year. “Instead of there being four to six really strong voices in the locker room, there may be 12 to 16 that are as strong as those four to six but still has the same impact kind of spread out,” he said following the Blue-White Game. With fall camp fast approaching, we are now getting a better idea of who those voices will be for this year’s team.

Big Ten Media Days will occur on July 26 and 27 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
