Ethan Grunkemeyer, the 2024 class Penn State football QB commit, has been in LA all week, competing in the Elite 11 finals alongside some of the nation’s best quarterbacks. Today, ON3 released its overall Elite 11 rankings, and the newest Nittany Lion quarterback broke the top 3.

Penn State football commit Ethan Grunkemeyer impresses at Elite 11 finals

Since announcing his commitment to Penn State football last month, excitement has been growing surrounding new Nittany Lion quarterback commit Ethan Grunkemeyer. Currently, the young QB remains a three-star composite recruit; however, as the hype grows and he displays more impressive abilities, the nation is starting to take note of James Franklin’s newest quarterback.

This week, Ethan Grunkemeyer was in Los Angeles, CA, for the Elite 11 finals, where some of the nation’s top quarterbacks showcased their passing abilities in front of scouts and more. There, alongside Jadyn Davis (Michigan) and Air Noland (Ohio State), Ethan Grunkemeyer stood out as one of the nation’s best quarterback recruits.

Yesterday, ON3 released its overall Elite 11 rankings, and this new Penn State football quarterback broke into the top 3, trailing only Julian Sayin (Alabama) and Dylan Raiola (Georgia), both of whom are considered elite prospects in the 2024 class.

According to ON3 Recruiting Director Charles Power, Grunkemeyer was the most “pleasant surprise” of the weekend, as he proved to be far better than his initial three-star rating suggests. Since committing to Penn State, Grunkemeyer has garnered significant national attention, standing out on multiple occasions, including the Elite 11, and appears to be trending towards an upgrade in rankings.

Currently, Grunkemeyer holds a three-star rating. However, by the time signing day arrives in 2024, it won’t be surprising if this new Penn State football quarterback becomes a four-star recruit or even better.
