Several former Penn State football players are down in Mobile, AL for the yearly Senior Bowl. It’s a week of practice with NFL coordinators where you get to showcase your skillset, how you behave towards coaches and players, and play in a game at the end of the week. Kalen King, Theo Johnson, and Adisa Isaac compete at the event. Both PFF and ESPN have released feedback on Johnson and Isaac leading into this week and explained why both players have the potential to rise on draft boards.

Theo Johnson had a steady 2023 season. He was consistent for Drew Allar and made flashy plays throughout his Penn State football career. Now, he looks to impress NFL scouts at the Senior Bowl. But Trevor Sikkema from PFF believes that Johnson has a chance to boost his draft stock this week.

Sikkema stated in a recent article, “Johnson brings a lot of size to the tight end position at 6-foot-6 and 255 pounds. He has a huge catch radius, which comes in handy when catching passes over the middle. He recorded two drops in each of the past three seasons, but his reception rate on catchable throws improved every year and was up to 94.1% in 2023. If he can show off good explosiveness and make the most of that catch radius on vertical routes this week, he could be a riser in a malleable tight end class beyond Brock Bowers and Ja’Tavion Sanders.”

Adisa Isaac could be on the NFL Draft rise

In the 2023 season, Penn State defensive end Adisa Isaac let everyone know he was one of the best edge rushers in the country. He has NFL insider Jordan Reid intrigued by his size and speed.

Reid recently wrote, “Expect Isaac — who currently is in the mid-Day 2 range — to stand out with eye-popping testing numbers over the next few months and even climb into top-40 conversations,” Reid continued. “His explosiveness should make him one of the biggest standouts at the Senior Bowl and combine, and he has the quickness to post a good 40 time for a 6-foot-5, 240-pound edge rusher.”
