The eyes of the college sports world turn to Happy Valley this weekend as No. 3 Penn State football prepares to battle No. 6 Oregon in front of a primetime White Out crowd. Expected to be one of the top games of the entire college football season, the outcome of Saturday night’s showdown will have widespread implications for the Big Ten title hunt and CFP race.

“I expect this to be a four quarter battle that’s going to come down to the end of the game. And, I like how we’re preparing to handle the moment,” James Franklin said this week.

Final: Oregon 30-Penn State 24 (Double OT)

A different story, but a similar result for Penn State football in front of the second largest crowd in Beaver Stadium history. The Nittany Lions sent the game to overtime, but ultimately fell to Oregon in the second frame.

Drew Allar, who helped lead the Nittany Lions to 21 unanswered points, turned the ball over on the Blue and White’s first play of double overtime to seal Penn State’s fate. Allar finished the day 14-25 for 137 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

Allar finds Ross to make it a one score game

The Penn State offense finally came to life, as Drew Allar finds Devonte Ross on a 35-yard touchdown pass. Allar 56 yards passing on the drive.

Oregon takes 17-3 lead

Oregon adds another score on an eight yard rush from Jordan Davison, effectively putting the game out of reach given what we’ve seen from the Penn State offense tonight.

Oregon takes lead on overturned fumble

The Penn State defense comes up with a massive stop, forcing an Oregon fumble on first and goal from the nine. However, in a game of inches, the officials rule that the running back Noah Whittington’s knee was down, overturning the call on the field. The Ducks scored on the next play to take a 10-3 lead.

Halftime: Penn State defense holds strong, offense leaves much to be desired

It’s been a quiet first half on the scoreboard, quite unlike last season’s meeting in the Big Ten Championship.

The Penn State offense is again off to a slow start, totaling only 69 yards through two quarters. The offensive line is struggling to establish itself in the trenches tonight – the Nittany Lions are only averaging 1.8 yards per rush while Drew Allar has felt pressure on several occasions.

Despite allowing 189 yards, Jim Knowles and the Penn State defense is doing its part by keeping the high-powered Oregon offense off the scoreboard.

And the Kick is No Good

Penn State holds the score at 3-0 after Oregon’s 47-yard field goal attempt goes wide left.

PSU 3 – Oregon 0

Ryan Barker puts the Nittany Lions on the board with a 49-yard field goal ending an 11-play, 32-yard drive.

Quarter 1: PSU 0, Oregon 0

While the Nittany Lions defense has shown up tonight, the offense has only 18 yards after a quarter of game play.

White Out Crowd Forces an Early Stop

The noise is fierce early and often in Beaver Stadium. The White Out crowd forced a false start on a 4 and 1 during Oregon’s opening drive, halting a six-play, 16 yard start.
