There has been a lot of major Nittany Lion recruiting news as of late. Today, the 2025 Penn State recruiting class got much better with the addition of four-star running back Kiandrea Barker, a major Texas target for James Franklin’s staff.

The 2025 class now has three commits. Here is what Barker brings to table.

On Sunday, Penn State football landed four-star running back Kiandrea Barker out of The Woodlands, TX. Barker, a 247 Sports Composite four-star running back, is ranked as the No. 75 player in the country, the No. 9 running back, and the No. 10 player in the state of Texas — he boasts a 5-foot-11, 183-pound frame heading into his junior year of high school. Additionally, Barker is Penn State’s first running back in the young 2025 recruting cycle. According to On3, Barker wants to be like his favorite running back: Penn State football alum Saquon Barkley.

“Penn State is a great college and they play the kind of football I like,” Barker told On3. “My favorite running back is Saquon Barkley. That’s where he comes from and (that’s) who I think my style of game is closely matched to. The year that Nick Singleton had this past season, I think Penn State is where home is and who can get me to the top level of football.”

Kianrea Barker is the third recruit to commit to the 2025 Penn State recruiting class; he joins four-star offensive lineman Jaelyne Matthews and safety Omari Gaines, and moves the class the No. 4 nationally and No. 1 in the Big Ten. The next Big Ten program in line is the Michigan Wolverines, who sit at No. 5 in the 2025 cycle thus far.
