RECRUITING | Penn State the new leader for 2024 Georgia four-star running back

The Penn State Nittany Lions have been making some noise in the 2024 recruiting class as of late. Penn State recruiting received even more good news this week after taking the lead for a major four-star running back from Georgia.

Penn State recruiting leads for Duke Watson

Duke Watson is a hot name for Penn State football right now — he is a 6-0, 185 pound running back from Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, GA. Watson is an On3 four-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 323 player in his class, the No. 26 running back, and the No. 40 player in Georgia.

Watson has an extensive offer list with many Power Five schools on it; however, Penn State recruiting is one of just three Big Ten schools to offer him — the other two are Purdue and Minnesota. According to the Recruiting Prediction Machine, Penn State leads in Watson’s recruitment with a 59.6% chance to land his commitment. The next closest school is Georgia Tech, who has an 18.5% shot — aside from Penn State and Georgia Tech, no program has more than a 1.5% chance to gain Watson’s commitment.

Watson could be valuable addition to Penn State’s roster

Right now, Penn State has four players committed in its 2024 class — all four players are four-star recruits. That being said, the Lions currently have no running backs yet. With an 89.15 overall class grade, Penn State football currently has the 19th-ranked class nationally and the 5th ranked class in the Big Ten conference.
