The Penn State football team just wrapped up the 2024 Blue-White Game on Saturday. While the current Nittany Lions took a step forward during the game, recruiting never ends. A big part of the weekend is hosting potential prospects and showing them the gameday experience. However, a player who was not on campus this weekend was 2025 recruiting class member and Penn State legacy prospect Michael Carroll. Who instead was visiting Alabama where he connected with Nick Saban.
Penn State football legacy meets Nick Saban during Alabama visit
Michael Carroll is a priority target for the Penn State football team in the 2025 recruiting class. Carroll is also the son of Michael Carroll Sr., who played linebacker for Penn State football in the late 1990s. Carroll currently ranks as the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania and the No. 2 interior offensive lineman and the No. 27 player in the 2025 cycle according to On3.
During a weekend that the Nittany Lions continued to build relationships with prospects, Carroll was not on campus. Instead, he confirmed on social media that he was on a visit to Alabama. During this visit, he had the chance to meet legendary head coach Nick Saban as well. Saban retired at the end of the 2023 season, but his tie to the Crimson Tide will last forever, and recruiting never stops. Alabama made Carroll’s top 12 list of schools that he released on April 8th.
Carroll sets official visit with Penn State
While Alabama is making a significant push for Carroll, Penn State is certainly not out of the race. Although Carroll missed the Blue-White Game this past weekend. He has taken five visits to Happy Valley thus far according to 247Sports, the latest was in January.
The Nittany Lions will look to make a lasting impression on Carroll when he takes his official visit on June 14th. If James Franklin and his staff can show Carroll everything they have to offer during this trip, along with his father being part of Penn State legacy they should have a great shot at earning his commitment.
