The Penn State football team enters game week for their first Big Ten game. The Nittany Lions are coming from a game where plenty of players rotated in and made an impact. They took care of business against their only FCS opponent of the season defeating Delaware 63-7. Penn State backup quarterback Beau Pribula saw significant playing time in this past game and it’s clear his ability to run the football is a true threat. But would he be open to being involved in the game plan moving forward in a different role?
Should Penn State football use this player in a new role?
Beau Pribula led the Penn State football team down the field for multiple touchdowns this past weekend. He ran for 46 yards and scored a rushing touchdown. He also threw for 22 yards and one touchdown against Delaware. After the coaching staff has been able to evaluate the tape that Pribula has put together, should they get him involved in the weekly game plan?
Former Penn State quarterback Tommy Stevens had a role like this on the team back in 2017. Using him in the backfield, a jet sweep, or even lining Stevens up as a slot wide receiver. But would Pribula even be open to something like this? He answered that question after the Delaware game.
Pribula said, “Yeah, my job is to move the ball down the field, whether that is running or throwing or creating a different threat with my legs. So, I think that’s my main job in the end. If I can do that and create a different threat, I think that is good for our offense.”
It’s clear that Pribula is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win games. This would also help him stay engaged with the weekly game plan, knowing there is a set of plays or a formation that he is part of. It’s unclear if this will be utilized against Illinois but it’s something to keep an eye on.
