The Penn State football team holds one commit in the 2026 recruiting class. This player happens to be ranked as one of the top prospects in the country. So, while the Nittany Lions hold a pledge from Messiah Mickens, several other power conference schools are interested. The latest program to throw its hat into the ring is the Miami Hurricanes who have now offered Mickens a scholarship. But fellow Penn State commit Alvin Henderson shared his opinion on Mickens’ latest offer.

While his ranking has continued to bounce around that still holds. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Mickens is the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania, the No. 7 running back in the class, and the 55th overall player in the 2026 cycle.

Several schools have been knocking on his door over the past few months to get Mickens to consider playing college football elsewhere. Schools such as Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Georgia, Now, Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes have offered Mickens a scholarship he shared on social media on Wednesday afternoon.

2025 Penn State RB commit recruits Mickens

The newest member of the Penn State football family is 2025 recruiting class RB Alvin Henderson. Who made his pledge to the Nittany Lions on April 11th. It seems that Henderson is sticking to his word in terms of helping Penn State recruit.

After he made his pledge Henderson told On3, “The reason why I say now and not later is because I’m ready to just join a family that wants me. I’m ready to go ahead and build my class and start recruiting. Most of all I’m ready, the O-line there is pretty set, they’ve already got a quarterback, they’ve got key pieces, and two other running backs. I’m ready to continue to enforce that I’m going to be one of the leaders, the alphas. They always have a top class but I want to help put the icing on the cake.”

Now, with Mickens picking up an offer from Miami, Henderson is doing his part to continue to recruit the 2026 commit. He tweeted at Mickens stating, “Miami is nice and all! But you’re committed to the right spot.”
