The Penn State football team has been picking up steam in the transfer portal, adding former five-star recruits Nolan Rucci and Julian Fleming over the past few weeks. However, it has not been all positive for the Nittany Lions, as this weekend they missed on two intriguing prospects. Both players did take visits to Penn State, but ended up choosing other schools. Penn State missed on CB Tony Grimes, who committed to Michigan State, and RB Jaylin Lucas, who committed to Flordia State on Sunday.

Penn State football misses on multiple transfer portal targets
It has been evident that the Penn State football team needs help in the secondary after how Ole Miss exposed the young cornerbacks. Tony Grimes was a potential fix in the Nittany Lion secondary. Grimes, who was a former five-star prospect who spent time at UNC and Texas A&M, recently visited Penn State.
The Nittany Lions hosted a second five-star CB, Tony Grimes, on Friday. Grimes put up nearly 100 tackles in three seasons at North Carolina before transferring to Texas A&M, where he redshirted this year. However, the very next day, Grimes took a visit to Michigan State, and he made his commitment to the Spartans last night.
Dynamic running back finds new home in the ACC
Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there, as former Indiana running back Jaylin Lucas also found a new home over the weekend when he made his commitment to Flordia State.
Lucas was on campus back on December 8. Many thought with the addition of Tom Allen that Lucas could see the path to reunite with his former head coach. However, he chose to take his talents elsewhere, which makes sense. At the end of the day, Lucas is a running back, and Penn State would’ve needed to be creative to get him on the field in 2024.
