With College GameDay set to roll into town and a primetime White Out on deck, Penn State football will be front and center during one of the most entertaining weekends of the entire college football season.

On Sunday, we learned where the Nittany Lions will be ranked for their highly anticipated matchup with Oregon. Unlike the last three weeks, the Blue and White will drop one spot in the AP Poll, falling from No. 2 to No. 3.

AP voters jumped Miami from No. 4 to No. 2 after the Hurricanes defeated Florida by 19 points on Saturday night. The Nittany Lions remained at No. 2 off their bye week in the newly released Coaches Poll.

James Franklin frustrated with early-season development of young Penn State players

Oregon’s ranking remained unchanged, with the Ducks sitting at No. 6. However, the Ducks did come in at No. 5 in the new Coaches Poll, setting the stage for only the second top-five matchup inside Beaver Stadium since 2000.

They’re really talented,Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said of Penn State following the Ducks’ win over Oregon State on Saturday.Schematically, as challenging as anybody we’ll play, as far as what they present on both sides of the ball. They play with relentless effort; they play well on special teams. Coach Franklin’s teams are always well-coached. So, it will be a real challenge for us, but one we’re excited to attack.”
