James Franklin and the Nittany Lions are currently setting the pace for the rest of the country in the 2027 recruiting cycle. This weekend, Penn State football was working to make inroads with the potential centerpiece of the class, four-star Tabor Academy (MA) quarterback Peter Bourque.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong reported that Bourque was back in Happy Valley on Friday. The visit was Bourque’s third since last July.
Bourque is currently the No. 2 quarterback and the No. 49 overall prospect in On3’s 2027 recruiting class rankings. 247Sports ranks him slightly lower, No. 57 overall and No. 7 at his position. Both outlets evaluate Bourque as the top recruit in Massachusetts. Bourque is already stacking offers from top programs, with 24 to date. Oregon, Ole Miss, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Florida are some early schools also in on the 2027 passer.
Penn State football is one of only four programs with commitments in the 2027 cycle so far. Nevertheless, the Nittany Lions have the top class in the country in 247Sports’ recruiting rankings.
