The Penn State football team has several top players returning to campus from the 2025 recruiting class this weekend. One position the Nittany Lions have not struggled recruiting is the tight end position. The latest proof of that is Luke Reynolds from the 2024 recruiting class and Brady O’Hara a current 2025 recruiting class member. Now, the Nittany Lions look to potentially add another tight end in the 2025 cycle in Andrew Olesh who is set to return to campus this week.

Andrew Olesh is a four-star tight end in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports and On3. Rivals has Olesh ranked as a three-star prospect. He resides in Center Valley, PA, and attends Southern Lehigh High School. The 6 foot 5, 212-pound prospect has a lot to offer the Penn State football team. He currently plays wide receiver in high school but will likely shift to a tight-end role in college.

In 2023 he accounted for 53 catches for 972 yards and 10 touchdowns. Rivals reported on Wednesday that Olesh will return to campus this week. The top TE in PA later confirmed that he will be at the Nittany Lions’ spring practice on Thursday. The trip will be Olesh’s eighth to Happy Valley.

Could Olesh be the next Mike Gesicki?

Based on his size, frame, and skillset it sounds like Andrew Olesh could be similar to former Nittany Lion tight end Mike Gesicki. 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins described his play style.

“Lines up mostly outside and is a smooth pass catcher who can change speeds and knows how to set up a defender,” Biggens writes. “Has a nice burst getting in and out of his breaks and can create late separation. Big catch radius because of his length and ability to use his hands and runs well after the catch. Not asked to block a ton right now and adding some bulk and strength should be a priority but flashes a lot of upside and should be a tough matchup for opposing linebackers and safeties to deal with at the next level.”
