Once the Penn State football team hits its recruiting stride, it’s hard for them to miss. That’s where it appears the Nittany Lions are now. After securing a new commitment from Lyrick Samuel in the 2025 recruiting class on Monday it doesn’t appear that James Franklin is slowing down anytime soon. Now, Penn State is the favorite to land Lex Cyrus, who is one of the top players in Pennsylvania, after a crystal ball was placed in the Nittany Lions’ favor Thursday.

Penn State football now the favorite to land the top in-state WR for 2025

Lex Cyrus is a four-star wide receiver prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, he is currently ranked as the No. 5 prospect in PA, and the top in-state WR for the cycle. A native of Harrisburg, Cyrus stands at 5-10 and 170 pounds. He holds offers from Duke, Iowa State, Auburn, Penn State, and several other schools.

Cyrus received his first crystal ball Thursday morning. This was placed by Nation Recruiting Analyst for 247Sports Brian Dohn in favor of Cyrus committing to Penn State football with a confidence level of 6. The Nittany Lions need more dynamic playmakers for the future, and this could be the next star.

The best in PA stay in PA

The goal for every recruiting cycle for Penn State is to keep the best players from Pennsylvania in Pennsylvania in terms of recruiting. But how have the Nittany Lions stacked up in that regard with the 12 hard commits?

Currently, Penn State holds commitments from No. 7, No. 8, No. 9, No. 13, and No. 17 prospects in the state. However, if they can land Lex Cyrus that would add the No. 5 player into this recruiting class with potentially more players on the way.
