National Signing Day for the 2024 cycle just concluded less than 24 hours ago, but James Franklin and Penn State football have already moved on to 2025. On Thursday, the Nittany Lions picked up an unexpected commitment from CB Xxavier Thomas out of Pittsburgh Central Catholic. A relatively off-the-radar prospect, Thomas has a strong family background in the NFL that he will look to use for Penn State under the new leadership of Tom Allen.

Penn State football lands 2025 CB Xxavier Thomas

Penn State football fans got a pleasant surprise around lunchtime on Thursday with the news that James Franklin and the Nittany Lions landed a commitment from CB Xxavier Thomas. Thomas, currently an unrated prospect, plays for Pittsburgh Central Catholic. He committed to Penn State over Akron.

Although he has not been evaluated by the recruiting industry to date, Thomas has strong ties to professional football. His older brother, Rodney Thomas, plays safety for the Indianapolis Colts.

Penn State football has had plenty of luck out of Pittsburgh Central Catholic recently. Yesterday, James Franklin and the Nittany Lions signed two prospects, Anthony Speca and Peter Gonzalez, for the 2024 cycle.

Xxavier Thomas becomes the seventh commitment for Penn State football in the class of 2025. The Nittany Lions currently sit at No. 8 in the national 2025 recruiting rankings, according to 247Sports. James Franklin currently has the best recruiting class in the Big Ten for 2025.
