Penn State football appears unwavering in pursuit of PA’s No. 1 QB

Despite deciding to commit elsewhere at the beginning of the month, Penn State football doesn’t seem willing to give up on the Keystone State’s top QB without a fight.

The Penn State football team picked up some disappointing news at the beginning of April. The No.1 quarterback in Pennsylvania in the 2025 recruiting class and Nittany Lion target Matt Zollers decided to leave the state to play his college football at Missouri. Since the battle is over many figured Penn State has moved on. But the Spring-Ford football team thanked Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki and QB coach Danny O’Brien for visiting last week.

Penn State football coaches visit high school of No. 1 QB in PA

2025 recruiting class QB Matt Zollers from Royersford, PA pledged to the Missouri Tigers on April 4th. He was choosing between Georgia, Missouri, Pittsburgh, and Penn State. But at the end of the day he chose to play his college football in the SEC. Zollers attends Spring-Ford High School and is currently listed as the No. 1 QB in PA and the No. 2 QB in the 2025 cycle according to On3.

When asked why he made that decision, Zollers said, “It was pretty difficult. It was intriguing to go to college only two hours away. But I fell back on what I look most out of a school, and ultimately Missouri was my best fit.”

While the Penn State football coaches could be interested in other Spring-Ford football players, the school’s football program had an interesting post on social media last week. The program sent a thank you to Penn State coaches Andy Kotelnicki and Danny O’Brien for stopping by last Wednesday.

It could be a coincidence that the Nittany Lion coaches were at Zollers’ high school. Or they could be continuing their recruiting efforts with Matt Zollers, only time will tell.

2026 QB target sees ranking increase

The Nittany Lions still have Bekkem Krizta as a 2025 quarterback commit. But looking ahead to the future Brandon Faizon and Dia Bell are the two names to be familiar with for the 2026 recruiting class.

Faizon a Penn State football target, recently saw a massive recruiting increase. Now, Faizon is the No. 1 player in the 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports. Previously, he was the No. 74 player in the cycle. He took a visit to Happy Valley on March 26th where he was awarded a scholarship offer to Penn State.
