With only two weeks until the Early National Signing Period begins, Penn State football will be squaring off with a familiar adversary for its most recent commitment. On Wednesday, Warren G. Harding (OH) four-star edge rusher and 2025 Nittany Lions pledge Chaz Coleman earned an offer from the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Coleman announced the offer from the in-state Buckeyes via social media. The 6-4, 220-pound defensive lineman has been of growing interest to Ohio State this fall, visiting Columbus for the Buckeyes’ home matchup versus Marshall on September 21.

Sought after by several Big Ten, SEC, and ACC programs, Coleman took official visits to Kentucky and Penn State over the last month. He committed to the Nittany Lions coming off his visit for the White Out against Washington on November 11.

According to On3, Coleman is the No. 191 overall prospect, the No. 19 edge rusher, and the No. 8 player from Ohio in the 2025 recruiting class.

The offer comes two days after four-star Imhotep (PA) defensive end Zahir Mathis decommitted from Ohio State. The top-ranked defender in Pennsylvania in the class of 2025, James Franklin and the Penn State football staff continued to recruit Mathis in the months following his commitment to the Buckeyes last January.

With 26 commitments, Penn State football has the No. 15 class in the 2025 cycle, according to On3.

The early National Signing period for the class of 2025 begins on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, and closes on Friday, December 6, 2024.
