The Penn State football team continues to seek talent from different sources of the country at the wide receiver position. They have a mixture of returning players, transfer portal additions, recruits, and now preferred walk-on opportunities. James Franklin and his staff have extended a PWO opportunity to Durrell Ceasar Jr, who is coming off one of the best single seasons in Pennsylvania high school football history.

Penn State football offers PWO to highly decorated WR from PA

Durrell Ceasar Jr played his high school football at Steelton-Highspire and had an outstanding high school career, the owner of multiple program records. According to Penn Live, he accounted for 108 catches for 2,038 yards and 23 touchdowns this year. In terms of yards, Ceasar had one of the best single seasons in Pennsylvania high school football history. He currently is not ranked on any national recruiting sites; however, that does not mean he lacks the talent to compete at the highest level of college football.

On Thursday, Ceasar posted on social media that he received a preferred walk-on opportunity from the Penn State football team. To keep the best in PA in PA, James Franklin has targeted this rising star. Ceasar also has opportunities to play for Lock Haven, Shippensburg, and a few other local colleges.

The Nittany Lions looking to stack talent at WR

It’s no secret that the Nittany Lions are looking to rebuild the wide receiver room ahead of the 2024 season. Things will look a little different with former Penn State WR Dante Cephas entering the transfer portal this week. Additionally, former Ohio State WR Julian Fleming made his commitment to Penn State this week as well. The Nittany Lions appear to be very active in the transfer portal but adding preferred walk-ons will also help fill depth and development within the program.
