The Penn State football team was fortunate to be led by Ji’Ayir Brown on defense, especially during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He started his career at Lackawanna Community College, then transferred to Penn State. This past April, he was a 3rd round draft selection for the San Fransico 49ers. Now, he is just days away from playing in Super Bowl LVIII. During his media availability, he shared advice with Cooper Cousins and future Nittany Lion commits.
Ji’Ayir Brown shares advice with 2024 recruits ahead of Super Bowl
Cooper Cousins has grown in recruiting popularity over the past few months. He most recently was named a five-star prospect and finished No. 27 overall in the 2024 recruiting class final On300 rankings.
Since Ji”Ayir Brown is an Erie native, Erie News Now attended the Super Bowl LVIII media week and interviewed the former Penn State football star.
Brown was asked by Isaac Petkac, “We have an offensive lineman that went to Erie McDowell who’s going to be playing at Penn State. His name is Cooper Cousins; he’s one of the best-recruited offensive linemen in the country. Whether it’s he or anyone else from our area that’s going off to college to Penn State, what would be your advice for them.?”
Brown stated, “Believe in the culture over there. Penn State has a strong culture. Positive attitude, great work ethic, compete in everything you do, and be willing to sacrifice. Those core values at Penn State will forever live through me. I think those are core values that anybody in football or not can live by and be pretty successful in life.”
Penn State adds 2nd linebacker commit of the week
In the last week, Penn State football added a pair of recruits from western Pennsylvania. On Wednesday, the Nittany Lions landed linebacker Dayshaun Burnett from Pittsburgh, PA. The four-star recruit joins fellow WPIAL star Alex Tatsch, who made his pledge to the Penn State football team on Sunday evening.
The Penn State coaching staff continues to stay hot on the recruiting trail. Soon, their attention will turn towards Spring Ball and prep for the 2024 season.
