While we don’t know the full extent of the injuries afflicting standout Nittany Lions running back Nicholas Singleton, we do know that they are not season-ending. During his weekly press conference on Monday, Penn State football coach James Franklin provided a brief update on the “short-term” health issues impacting Singleton.
“Short-term,” Franklin said when asked about Singleton’s status. “And you guys will obviously have a better idea come practice [on Wednesday]. I know you guys will be out there at practice. But, short-term.”
Singleton exited Saturday night’s win over Washington at the six-minute mark in the third quarter and did not return. He finished the night with seven carries for 45 yards and three receptions for 14 yards.

The departure was part of ongoing injury issues stemming from early October in the week between the Illinois and UCLA games.
“I think you guys know, Nick’s had some things lingering on and off, kind of, throughout the year and has battled through them,” Franklin continued.
Nicholas Singleton has 543 yards and three touchdowns on 88 carries (6.2 yards/rush) through eight games played this season. He’s also added 218 yards and four scores on 22 receptions in the passing game.
