The Penn State football team saw one of their former players find a new home on Sunday night. Wide receiver Cristian Driver who entered the transfer portal early in December decided to commit to PJ Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers after two seasons at Penn State. After a position change at the beginning of his career, Driver is looking to find a more impactful role in PJ Fleck’s offense.

One time Penn State football wide receiver Cristian Driver entered the transfer portal on December 5th after struggling to see the field for the Nittany Lions. He picked up an offer from Minnesota on December 23rd, took a couple of weeks to think it over, and committed last night. The wide receiver room was crowded and the path to playing time did not seem clear for the 2nd year player from Argyle, TX. Coming out of high school Driver was a four-star prospect who started his career as a safety at Penn State. Then, this Spring he made the full transition to wide receiver. A position that runs in his family as his father is former NFL WR for the Green Bay Packers Donald Driver.

Driver becomes the 2nd Nittany Lion to find a new home via transfer portal

Cristian Driver now joins former Nittany Lion Alex Bacchetta as the two that have entered the portal and found new homes. Bacchetta was a 3-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting class. He seemed to be on track to become the next punter of the Penn State football team. That plan changed when current punter Riley Thompson announced that he received a two-year eligibility extension from the NCAA. Due to this, Bacchetta entered the transfer portal, and it didn’t take him long to find a new home at Rice.
