What goes around, comes around. At least, that saying could be used with this player in the transfer portal. Former Penn State football and West Virginia linebacker Lance Dixon is officially in the portal as of Monday night. At one point, he was viewed as the next great Nittany Lion linebacker; however, his career in State College never took off. But as an experienced player, should James Franklin try to bring him back to Happy Valley?

Lance Dixon was a massive recruit for the Penn State football team. A former five-star who was ranked as the No. 1 outside linebacker in the country, according to 247sports. He joined the Nittany Lions and stayed for two seasons. But he only accounted for 12 tackles and a forced fumble in the first two seasons of his career.

Then, he transferred to West Virginia ahead of the 2021 season, where he has been ever since. His best season came in 2021, when he accounted for 36 tackles.

But on Monday night, Dixon entered his name in the transfer portal, searching for a new home.

Should Penn State pursue Lance Dixon?

If the shoe fits, I believe it would be worth looking into a potential reunion here. Lance Dixon is a proven player whom James Franklin is familiar with.

The Penn State defense will look different next season with Curtis Jacobs off to the NFL. Imagine what it would look like if Penn State started Tony Rojas, Abdul Carter, and a player such as Lance Dixon at linebacker. This defense could be scary if they brought him back to State College in 2024.
