With the transfer portal window close to closing, the Penn State football team just lost another contributor. The Nittany Lions now have four players that have entered the portal to date. Last week Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin called James Franklin “the model” of roster management; however, there is no stopping players who are eager for more playing time. First reported by Rivals, this afternoon defensive end Jake Wilson officially entered the transfer portal.

Jake Wilson is a redshirt junior walk-on defensive end from Nazareth, PA. He has appeared in 27 career games but most of his playing time has been on special teams. He has lined up at the end of the line on field goals and extra points blocking this season for Alex Felkins. He ends his Penn State football career recording three tackles in four seasons with the Nittany Lions.

Wilson released an official statement about his Penn State career and his decision to enter the transfer portal.

The Penn State football team has now lost four players due to the transfer portal since the beginning of December. Punter Alex Bacchetta has already found a new home signing with the Rice Owls. Wide receiver Cristian Driver has collected several offers thus far including one from Minnesota.

Meanwhile, cornerback Jace Tutty has also found a new home with his commitment to FCS Youngstown State. Then, Jake Wilson makes it an even four players who have entered the portal for the Nittany Lions. There is an expectation for additional Nittany Lions to potentially enter the transfer portal. They have until January 4th to make this decision.
