The hay is mostly in the barn for Penn State football for the 2024 recruiting cycle, signing a top 15 class in the nation over the winter. But the Nittany Lions added another piece to the class Friday night, as Manheim Central wide receiver Aaron Enterline announced his commitment as a preferred walk-on. Enterline takes the same path chosen by fellow Manheim Central star Graham Zug, who would go on to become one of the standout receivers for the Nittany Lions from the late 2000s.
Aaron Enterline joins Penn State football as PWO
Penn State football landed a late addition to its 2024 recruiting cycle Friday evening, earning a commitment from Manheim Central’s Aaron Enterline. Playing wide receiver and defensive back for the Barons, Enterline is unrated by the major recruiting outlets. But that doesn’t mean the central Pennsylvania prospect lacks athleticism, measuring in at 6-3, 180 pounds and clocking a 4.5 40-yard dash.
Despite not garnering much attention at the FBS level, Aaron Enterline picked up a PWO offer from Penn State football in December. Enterline made his commitment public Friday, announcing the decision on social media.
Aaron Enterline caught 80 passes for 1,508 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior. He broke many of Manheim Central’s receiving records previously held by Graham Zug, who committed to Penn State football as a PWO in 2006.
Graham Zug would elevate through the ranks, earning a scholarship in 2008. Zug was a significant part of that year’s Big Ten Championship team, the final title of Joe Paterno’s legendary career. He had a breakout year in 2009, hauling in 46 receptions, which at the time was tied with OJ McDuffie (1991) for 14th most in a single season. His seven touchdown catches that year are tied with Kenny Jackson (1982, 1983), Bobby Engram (1994), Deon Butler (2008), and Pat Freiermuth (2019) for 17th-most in a single season in Penn State football history.
Reviewing the Nittany Lions’ wide receiver haul in 2024
Penn State football put pen to paper with three wide receivers in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Only one, Malverne’s (New York) Josiah Brown, enrolled in January. Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s Peter Gonzalez and Imhotep Charter’s Tyseer Denmark will enroll this summer.
Of course, the Nittany Lions made a significant addition out wide via the transfer portal this winter, bringing in Julian Fleming from Ohio State. Early returns on Fleming from players and coaches have been overwhelmingly positive, but we have yet to hear from the former Buckeye himself this spring.
