Detriot, MI – Well, tonight the curtain closed on the 2023 regular season for the Penn State football team. It was a sad moment but also satisfying to see such a dominant team win. The offense found another gear and the defense was dominant as usual. Drew Allar and Penn State dominated Michigan State 42-0 tonight. At the end of the day Penn State will finish 10-2 and hope for a NY6 bowl bid.

Drew Allar looked sharp after injury

Everyone in the Penn State football community was concerned with the Drew Allar injury last week but tonight he made a statement. Allar looked similar to what he did against Maryland. Tonight he started the game completing 13 of 19 passes for 180 yards and one touchdown pass in the first half against Michigan State. Allar looked confident in his delivery and kept his cool all night. The common theme followed him as it has all season he took care of the football. In the second half, he had the highlight of the night throwing a 60-yard pass to Omari Evans.

Allar finished the night going 17 for 26 for 292 passing yards and 2 touchdown passes.

Penn State rushing attack is back

All season we have seen Kaytron Allen be the most reliable running back for Penn State. It was more of the same tonight, however, we saw Nick Singleton have his most explosive game of the season tonight. Singleton had a 20-yard run and a 52-yard reception. It shows you how much of a weapon he is when he’s in the open space. But Kaytron Allen also added 47 yards rushing and Trey Potts had 28 yards of his own in the first half.

It was more of the same in the second half, Michigan State was unable to slow down the Nittany Lion’s rushing attack. Kaytron Allen led the Nittany Lions with 137 yards on the ground tonight. Nick Singleton added 119 rushing yards tonight.

The Nittany Lion defense suffocates Michigan State

Manny Diaz had the Penn State defense prepared for every game this season. But tonight it felt like the Nittany Lions were on another level. At the half, the Michigan State Spartans only had 100 yards of total offense. Defensively Penn State caused a turnover thanks to Jaylen Reed’s interception. They also had 3 first-half sacks and 5 first-half tackles for loss tonight.

The defense held Michigan State to 2 for 12 on 3rd down conversions as well as less than 100 total yards in the game. In the 2nd half, Michigan State had negative yards produced on offense. The Nittany Lions were led by Adisa Isaac tonight with 7 tackles and 1 sack on the night.
