The Penn State football team is optimistic to hold its 2024 recruiting class within the top 10 nationally. After an addition or two to the 2024 class, all attention will turn toward the Nittany Lions’ recruiting efforts for the 2025 class, which already has some star talent. The key for James Franklin and his staff will be to keep the three commits he has in the 2025 class while also adding more talent along the way. One potential future addition for the Nittany Lions is Trenton Wilson, who could end up becoming the next great defensive lineman at Penn State.

Could this 2025 4-Star DL end up with Penn State football?

Trenton Wilson is a four-star recruit and the second overall player from Maryland in the 2025 recruiting class according to 247sports. He recently released his top 12 schools which included Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Miami, USC, Maryland, Rutgers, Texas A&M, and Penn State.

Wilson was officially offered by the Nittany Lions back on June 22, 2022, so the staff has been in contact with him for a while now. He was also on campus in April of this year, it helps that Penn State is close to home for him. That relationship will be important to maintain as the Penn State football team has to compete with some of the best schools in the country in order to land Trenton Wilson.

Deion Barnes Next Test

Defensive line coach Deion Barnes certainly exceeded expectations this summer with his efforts on the recruiting side of football. He was able to seal the deal with several key members of the 2024 recruiting class and because of this, the team is in a great position. His next test comes against West Virginia, can he get the most out of the Nittany Lion defensive line this fall? That is the question that remains, but all signs point that Barnes was a homerun hire.
