Today, the Penn State football recruiting class received a boost with the commitment of four-star running back Corey Smith. As one of the top three recruits in Wisconsin, Smith’s addition brings the total number of commitments to 13; Penn State’s success in securing commitments from three of the top four recruits in Wisconsin for the 2024 class is a noteworthy achievement. James Franklin’s impressive track record against the Wisconsin Badgers, both on and off the football field, further highlights his exceptional coaching abilities as he continues his takeover of Wisconsin.

Penn State football: Nittany Lions seeing incredible success against Wisconsin across the board

Penn State football has a flawless 5-0 record against the Wisconsin Badgers since 2012, winning their first matchup that year and continuing the winning streak throughout the four meetings since. Head coach James Franklin, who took over the program in 2014, has led the Nittany Lions to a 3-0 record against the Badgers, securing victories in different locations: State College, a neutral site, and Madison.

Franklin’s successful track record against the Badgers has seemingly contributed to Penn State football’s recent hot streak in recruiting top talent from Wisconsin for the 2024 class. The program has already secured commitments from three highly ranked four-star recruits in the state, including the No. 1 player, Donovan Harbour, who is an offensive tackle.

Nittany Lions’ recruiting efforts going over well in Wisconsin right now

Penn State football has had early success in the 2024 recruiting cycle, securing commitments from three of the top four recruits in Wisconsin. The program’s most recent addition is four-star running back Corey Smith, who is ranked third in the state. Smith joins a class that already boasts commitments from the state’s top-ranked recruit, four-star offensive lineman Donovan Harbour, and the fourth-ranked recruit, four-star offensive lineman Garrett Sexton.

Currently, James Franklin has amassed three consecutive major recruiting wins over Wisconsin, and Penn State football has its sights set on four-star offensive tackle Nathan Roy, who is the state’s second-ranked recruit. If Penn State manages to secure Roy’s commitment, it would undoubtedly turn heads across the country, questioning why the Badgers are unable to prevent the Nittany Lions from recruiting the best talent from within their own state.
