Penn State football is undoubtedly one of the most iconic brands in college football, symbolizing triumph at both conference and national levels. Recently, 247 Sports unveiled its list of the top 25 games for the 2023 season, and the Nittany Lions were honored with two mentions, once again highlighting the immense stature of the program and the lofty anticipations the team faces this upcoming fall.

Penn State football listed twice among top 5 college football games in 2023

2023 is bound to be a massive season for Penn State football. The Lions just went 11-2, claiming a Rose Bowl win and a top 10 ranking last season.

Now, with Drew Allar under center and a talented roster overall, the Nittany Lions are looking to return to the Big Ten title game for the first time since 2016 and reach the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.

The schedule for Penn State is not easy, with two main games standing out: Michigan and Ohio State, the other powerhouses of the Big Ten. Despite their impressive 2022 season, the Nittany Lions fell short against both of the conference’s playoff teams, losing 41-17 in Ann Arbor and 44-31 against the Buckeyes.

According to 247’s top 25 games of the 2023 season, Penn State’s matchups against both the Wolverines and the Buckeyes are among the top 5 games of the year.

In October, Penn State will travel to Columbus to face Ohio State, a game ranked as the No. 5 matchup of the year. In mid-November, Michigan will visit Happy Valley, a game ranked as the No. 4 matchup.

Keep an eye on these massive Big Ten battles this fall. Not only are they some of the biggest games on the 2023 schedule, but they will also define the Penn State football program.
