Penn State football could snap SEC National Championship Streak in 2023

The Penn State football team has been named one of the teams that could potentially snap the SEC’s national championship streak. Dating back to 2017 when the Clemson Tigers led by Trevor Lawrence won the national championship over Alabama 35-21 every year since that season has been dominated by the SEC. The following national champions include Alabama in 2018, LSU in 2019, Alabama again in 2020, and then Georiga in 2021& 2022. But heading into the 2023 season, Drew Allar and the Nittany Lions could be the reason why that is shaken up according to 247sports.

Penn State could snap SEC National Championship Streak in 2023

There are several teams outside of the SEC that could win the national championship according to 247sports. Those teams include Washington, USC, Clemson, Florida State, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State. In order for the Nittany Lions to accomplish this in 2023, they will need to get past two of those teams. On the road against Ohio State who they have not beaten since 2016 and at home against Michigan who they last defeated in 2020.

It’s a tall task for the Nittany Lions to take down Ohio State and Michigan in the same season, plus they would likely have to go on to win the Big Ten Championship as well. But Regardless if they are playing meaningful football in December of 2023 that is the ultimate goal.

QB Drew Allar will need to play at a high level

In order for the Penn State football team to achieve this goal of knocking the SEC off of the National Championship throne, they will need first-year starting QB Drew Allar to deliver at the highest level. He will need to show that if the run game is slowing down for whatever reason, he can be the spark the offense needs to continue moving forward. It will take some big-time performances but at the end of the day, I believe Drew Allar can deliver.
