Recently, Luke Reynolds, a tight end in the 2024 recruiting class and a major Penn State football commit, received his fourth star according to 247 Sports. Furthermore, he has been promoted to the top-ranked recruit in the state of Connecticut, reaffirming James Franklin’s astute talent evaluation skills.

Penn State football commit upgraded to four-star

When Luke Reynolds, a tight end in the 2024 class, initially committed to Penn State football, he held a lower ranking among recruits in his class. However, he has since garnered significant attention on a national scale, solidifying his position as one of the top tight ends in his class.

Following a re-evaluation, Reynolds has now climbed to the top 100 recruits in his class, securing the No. 80 spot in the latest rankings. Additionally, he has been recognized as the 6th best tight end in his class and the premier player in his state (per 247). This update places Reynolds among the elite players who have committed to Penn State football, with three commits — Quinton Martin (PA), Donovan Harbour (WI), and Luke Reynolds (CT) — earning the distinction of being the No. 1 player in their respective states.

During the recent Elite 11 skills camp, Luke Reynolds once again caught the attention of national scouts, earning a coveted invitation to the Elite 11 Finals alongside newly committed quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer.

Despite starting as a lower-ranked recruit, Reynolds is proving to be a valuable addition to Penn State football’s recruiting class, reaffirming James Franklin‘s ability to identify and recruit underrated talent.
