There is a lot of hype surrounding James Franklin’s Nittany Lions in 2023 on both sides of the football. Last week, the Penn State football team received even more high praise, as standout defensive end Chop Robinson was ranked as a top 5 defensive end in the sport by On3 Sports.

On3 has high praise for Chop Robinson, Penn State football

In 2022, Penn State football acquired Chop Robinson — a former highly-touted, four-star prospect — from the Maryland Terrapins. After just one season in the Blue and White, it’s clear that Robinson has star potential, and that he will play a key role in Penn State’s elite defense this season. According to On3, the Nittany Lions’ star defensive end is the 5th-best edge rusher in the nation heading into the 2023 season this fall.

Throughout his one season with Penn State football thus far, Chop Robinson recorded 26 tackles (19 solo), 10 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two pass-breakups, three pressures, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He earned All-Big Ten honors a season ago as well as the Nittany Lions’ Reid Robinson Outstanding Defensive Lineman Award.

What does On3 have to say about Chop Robinson?

Here is what On3 said about Penn State’s star defensive lineman:

“After Robinson transferred from Maryland to Penn State prior to last season, he found his groove. He played just eight games in 2021 with the Terrapins and registered two. Those numbers went up during a great year for Penn State. He had 10 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. At this rate, we’d expect Robinson to push double-digit sacks in 2023 before he makes his NFL decision next winter.”

Like the entirety of Penn State football, Chop Robinson has some high expectations this fall after an incredible 2022 season with the Nittany Lions.
