The week may be young, but the Nittany Lions are already hard at work on the recruiting trail, pursuing both high school and transfer portal talent. Today, it was discovered that a new Penn State football transfer portal addition has been picked up by James Franklin’s staff: offensive lineman Addison Penn out of Duke University.

Penn State football has been actively recruiting and adding depth to their offensive line ahead of the 2023 season, as the group is crucial to the team’s success. The addition of Addison Penn brings another promising young player into the fold and gives the Nittany Lions more options to work with in the trenches. According to his social media, Penn appears to be committing to play football for James Franklin and Penn State.

Addison Penn is a former 247 Sports composite three-star offensive lineman from the class of 2020. He was rated as the No. 20 center in his class and sat just outside of the top 100 among recruits from Texas. He has limited on-field experience during his time at Duke, but he brings promise and provides crucial depth for the Penn State football team. He brings three years of eligibility with him.

While the offensive line has been growing into a strength for Penn State football recently, James Franklin’s comments suggest that he believes there is still work to be done. By adding a talented player like Penn, the Nittany Lions are hoping to build more depth and increase competition at the position, which should benefit the team in the long run.

Penn State football fans will have to wait until the fall to see how the offensive line shakes out, but the addition of Addison Penn is certainly an incredible development for the program. With a talented young player like him in the mix, the Nittany Lions are well-positioned to continue their success on the field and compete for a Big Ten title once again.
