The Penn State football team is working through a quarterback recruiting situation. On the one hand, the Nittany Lions missed out on Matt Zollers who was the No. 1 QB in Pennsylvania in the 2025 recruiting class. On the other hand, Penn State has Bekkem Kritza in the 2025 cycle who looks to be an intriguing prospect. But looking ahead to the 2026 recruiting class, it appears that Faizon Brandon and Dia Bell are the top choices for James Franklin. However, Mike Norvell and Florida State entered the race for Bell on Wednesday.
Elite Penn State football quarterback target offered by ACC power
Dia Bell is known as one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. The son of 12-year NBA veteran Raja Bell has been a priority for the Penn State football team. On3 lists Bell as the No. 1 player in Florida and the No. 2 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class.
Currently, On3 has Ohio State and Penn State leading the way for the commitment of Dia Bell. He has been to Happy Valley four times with the latest trip coming this past weekend. Now, the recruiting journey just become interesting. Flordia State has officially offered Bell a scholarship. If Bell wants to stay in his home state of Florida to play his college football, Penn State will have to outduel another top program.
Bell feels like he can be a great fit at Penn State
While we are over a year away from National Signing Day for the 2026 recruiting class, it’s always good to start these relationships early. Dia Bell recently spoke with Steve Wiltfong of On3 and explained why he thinks he would fit well at Penn State.
“Penn State is an excellent program with an incredible history. Beaver Stadium is one of the best atmospheres in college football and they have an incredible fan base! I am very excited about their new offense! I’ve been able to develop a great relationship with Coach Franklin, Coach Kotelnicki, and Coach O’Brien. I think that I’d be a good fit in what they do offensively because I can play on time and on schedule, but I can create when I need to as well.”
