With Micah Shrewsberry’s abrupt exit, the Penn State Nittany Lions will need to hit the transfer portal quite a bit to fill its roster spots. On Monday, one of the top Penn State basketball transfer portal targets, Niagara transfer Noah Thomasson, released his top-5 finalists; Penn State and Pitt both made the cut.

So far, new Penn State basketball head coach Mike Rhoades has done a great job via the transfer portal. Still, the Nittany Lions have plenty of open spots to fill and are trending with Niagra transfer portal target Noah Thomasson. Thomasson is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound point guard that is a proficient scorer and a solid presence for any program to have on the floor. A few weeks ago, Thomasson decided to hit the transfer portal, and it has been a busy road ever since. On Monday, Penn State was named one of five finalists for his recruitment, along with Pitt, Georgia, and others.

As a high school recruit, Noah Thomasson was a no-star recruit out of Richmond, TX, and initially committed as a member of the 2021 recruiting class. During his most recent college basketball season, Thomasson led the MAAC Conference in scoring, and averaged 19.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. Wherever this Penn State basketball transfer portal target winds up, he says he wants a shot at the NCAA Tournament.

“My ultimate goal is to play in the Big Dance,” Thomasson told 247 Sports in early-April. “I think it is every kid’s dream to play in the NCAA Tournament just one time. I want a place that is a good fit for me where I am around good guys and I can win.”
