With NFL rookies starting to report to training camp, Penn State football fans have much to be excited about. Specifically, the latest Nittany Lions who will enter their first season in the NFL. However, two players will have to wait a little longer before they hit the field as the Ravens’ Adisa Isaac and the Giants’ Theo Johnson have been placed on the PUP list to begin training camp.
The PUP list is also known as the physically unable to perform list. NFL players are placed on the PUP list who are injured before training camp begins. Both former Penn State football players Theo Johnson and Adisa Isaac will face that fate to start training camp.
Art Stapleton of USA Today confirmed that Johnson is on the PUP list on Tuesday. He offered some words of encouragement to New York Giants fans on Twitter / X, stating, “Don’t panic just yet. Can come off anytime.”
The Giants selected Johnson in the 4th round of the 2024 NFL Draft this past April. Johnson is expected to have a much larger role after TE Darren Waller suddenly announced his retirement from the league in June.

Theo Johnson isn’t the only former Penn State football player who will start his NFL career on the PUP list. On Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network announced that Adisa Isaac will start on the PUP list for the Baltimore Ravens.
Rapoport mentioned in his tweet that Isaac can “come off [the PUP list] at any time.”
Isaac was drafted in the third round of the NFL Draft in April. He finished his final season in Happy Valley collecting 36 tackles to pair with 16 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.
