Mike Rhoades has a tall task ahead of him: rebuilding the Nittany Lions’ program following the departure of Micah Shrewsberry. Still, to this point, Rhoades has done a great job with high school recruiting and has already taken two top-ranked transfers from his former program: the VCU Rams. This weekend, Rhoades will have another major opportunity as four-star transfer portal center Qudus Wahab will be in town for a recruiting visit with Penn State basketball.

Penn State basketball to host four-star transfer portal center this weekend

On Monday, it was reported that Qudus Wahab — a veteran big man with four years of experience with Georgetown — would be in State College, PA, for a recruiting visit with Penn State basketball this weekend. Mike Rhoades has proven that he can use the portal well, even doing so during his time at VCU, and needs a true big man heading into his first season with the Nittany Lions. Wahab, a veteran center, could be precisely what his program needs right now.

Qudus Wahab is a four-star transfer portal center and one of the most sought-after big men in the portal. According to On3, Wahab has a 94.00 grade and was ranked as the No. 17 center and No. 5 player in Virginia out of high school. He is the No. 7 transfer portal center in the nation and the No. 5 remaining center in the portal.

During his most recent season with the Hoyas, Wahab averaged 9.6 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game, all while shooting over 51% from the floor and over 70% from the free throw line. Needless to say, heading into a new era of Penn State basketball, landing this four-star transfer portal center would be massive for the Nittany Lions.
