There is much to be excited about regarding the quarterback room in Happy Valley right now. As we speak, Penn State football has two incredibly talented sophomores — Drew Allar and Beau Pribula — battling it out for the starting role this fall. Still, looking a bit down the line, the Nittany Lions are favored to land another five-star quarterback — Michael Van Buren — who just set his official commitment date a day after his sixth visit with the Nittany Lions. Save the date, Penn State fans, because this top-ranked Penn State football QB target is expected to end up in the Blue and White.

Top Penn State football QB target sets commitment date for this summer

On Thursday, Michael Van Buren — a top Penn State football QB target — took his 6th unofficial visit with the Nittany Lions. His next visit will be this summer (June 16th), serving as his 7th overall visit and his first official visit.

As of right now, Penn State football is expected to land his commitment — adding one of the top-ranked players in the class would do wonders for Penn State’s 2024 recruiting class, which currently ranks in the top 10 after Quinton Martin committed last night. Following Van Buren’s visit this week, he announced his official commitment date: July 8th, 2023.

Nittany Lions trending for five-star quarterback

So far, the Nittany Lions have seven hard commits in their 2024 recruiting class — with the possible addition of Michael Van Buren, Penn State football would pick up an elite-caliber quarterback, who will likely take over for Allar or Pribula once those two inevitably leave the program.

Van Buren is an ESPN five-star quarterback and is ranked as the No. 10 player in the nation, the No. 2 quarterback in the 2024 class, and the No. 1 player in the state of Maryland by the ESPN 300 rankings. If you’re a Penn State football recruiting fan, circle July 8th on your calendar this summer.
