Penn State currently boasts a top 10 2024 recruiting class heading into the Blue-White game this weekend. Following a recent visit from a top-ranked Michigan recruit, it appears that the Penn State football program made a meaningful impression on Nick Marsh, who is currently one of the top receivers on the big boards of Mel Tucker and Jim Harbaugh.
Penn State football makes good first impression on top-ranked Michigan recruit
Early last month, former Michigan State Spartan commit Nick Marsh announced that he was decommitting from Mel Tucker’s program. While Michigan State is still in the running — perhaps even a favored landing spot — Marsh’s recruitment is wide open, and several major Big Ten programs are in pursuit. Most notably, Penn State, Michigan, and Michigan State are all heavily pursuing one of the top wideout targets in the class.
Nick Marsh has an impressive 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame entering his senior year of high school with River Rouge High School in Wayne County, MI. Marsh is a consensus four-star wide receiver and is ranked as the No. 73 player in the nation, the No. 14 wide receiver, and the No. 3 player in the state of Michigan. Seeing as Marsh is in the backyard of Jim Harbaugh and Mel Tucker, Michigan and Michigan State are currently thought of as the frontrunners in his recruitment; however, following his recent visit to State College, things appear to be going well for Nittany Lions when it comes to the recruitment of this top-ranked Michigan recruit.
How did the Nittany Lions do?
According to top-ranked Michigan recruit Nick Marsh, Penn State exceeded his expectations during his visit to Happy Valley; it sounds like the Nittany Lions are trending in a good direction with the highly sought-after four-star wideout.
“They actually rated very high. My expectations were for Penn State to be somewhat up there, but I didn’t expect the visit to be that good,” he told On3. “Penn State is actually very highly in my recruitment right now. I don’t have much more to say, but I’m going on an official visit the 2-4 of June, so that’s when we’ll break down where they sit at in my recruitment.
“They were just telling me how they really wanted me and how I could work best in their offense. Talking about what they have in store for me in the future if I come there,” he said. “They were also talking about some things I can work on while I’m still in high school.”
Nick Marsh still has some visits coming up and no commitment date has been set, though it appears as if James Franklin and his Penn State football team are starting to climb back into the race with this top-ranked Michigan recruit ahead of the bulk of spring/summer recruiting season.
