The transfer portal window, which re-opened on April 15th during the Nittany Lions’ Blue/White game, is swiftly coming to a close. Any last-minute Penn State football transfer portal moves should be expected soon. One potential move for Penn State is adding Jahquez Robinson, a former four-star Alabama cornerback who has been on the market for some time.

Recently, former Nittany Lions transfer cornerback Storm Duck, who was with the team for only a few months, re-entered the portal following Penn State’s spring practices. While the transfer was a bit confusing, it highlights the competitiveness of the DB room. However, it appears that Penn State football is actively seeking to replace his talent with another portal addition. If they can secure this impressive SEC talent, Terry Smith’s defensive back room will be fully loaded for the upcoming 2023 season.

Penn State football transfer portal target: Four-star SEC cornerback Jahquez Robinson

Jahquez Robinson was initially signed by Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide as a member of the 2020 recruiting cycle. During his true freshman season, Robinson was part of the SEC and national championship-winning team, achieving some impressive accomplishments early on. With a height of 6-foot-2 and a weight of 200 pounds, Robinson’s physical attributes are enticing for the Nittany Lions, along with his experience and talent.

As a high school recruit, Robinson was rated a four-star cornerback by the On3 Industry rankings and was ranked as the No. 362 recruit nationally, the No. 34 cornerback in his class, and the No. 37 recruit in Florida. The 247 Sports Composite rankings placed him higher, as a top-300 recruit nationally, the No. 21 cornerback, and the No. 50 recruit in the state.

Time is running out for Penn State football to make a significant move on Robinson, and if James Franklin wants him on the team in State College this fall, he and his staff must act fast. Robinson saw little playing time during his three seasons with Alabama but became a rising contributor during their 11-2 season this past year.
