The 2024 Penn State football recruiting class currently ranks just outside of the top-5 at No. 6 nationally and No. 3 in the Big Ten. The 2025 class is also shaping up to be something special, ranking within the top-3 classes nationally. As the team heads into the bulk of summer recruiting — which should be huge for the Nittany Lions — locking down more blue-chip recruits is essential. On Friday, Penn State began recruiting a new four-star target: Jayden Woods, the No. 1 player in Kansas.

James Franklin, the head coach of Penn State football, has recently been actively recruiting top high school football players across the nation. One of the most recent scholarship offers was extended to Jayden Woods, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound four-star EDGE from Will Valley High School in Kansas, who is considered one of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Woods is currently ranked as a top 200 national recruit and the No. 19 EDGE and No. 1 player in Kansas. While he has already received numerous offers from several Big Ten schools such as Wisconsin, Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois, Penn State football appears to be in a category of its own when it comes to his offer list so far.

Aside from being a highly sought-after player in the Big Ten, Woods has also garnered interest from some of the major schools in the Big 12 conference, including Kansas and Kansas State. As a three-sport high school athlete who participates in football, wrestling, and track, Woods possesses a versatile skillset that makes him an attractive recruit.

Despite already being listed as a four-star prospect, there is a strong possibility that Woods could be upgraded to a five-star recruit by the time the 2025 class is re-evaluated, making him a top target for many of the top college football programs in the nation.
