Two top transfer WRs trending away from Penn State football

It appears that the Penn State football team will miss out on multiple transfer wide receiver prospects after two players have received crystal balls for other schools.

While the past week has been incredibly positive for the Penn State football team, a dark cloud still surrounds the Nittany Lions. That is at the wide receiver position and their success rate of landing top talent in the transfer portal. The Nittany Lions have targeted three players who are still actively available. Julian Fleming the former Ohio State WR who Penn State is the favorite to land, however, his camp has gone dark and the timeline is unclear. Then, Colbie Young, the former Miami transfer, and Andre Greene Jr, the former UNC transfer. Both Young and Greene Jr are now trending away from Penn State.

The Penn State football team hosted Colbie Young and Andre Greene Jr for visits over the past few weeks. But apparently, the visit alone was not enough for either player. At this time, it’s unclear if it’s NIL-related or just personal preference, but both players have now received crystal balls from other Power Five schools.

Starting with Colbie Young, who had the most upside, in my opinion. The former Miami Hurricane was visiting State College last weekend, but news broke on Wednesday afternoon that the Georgia Bulldogs are now the favorite to land this talented wide receiver.

Is Andre Greene Jr staying in the ACC?

One of the more unproven prospects that Penn State targeted in the transfer portal was Andre Greene Jr. The former UNC wide receiver did not have a large sample size of statistics; however, in the 2022 Holiday Bowl, he made his presence known securing 5 catches for 43 yards and 1 touchdown.

But it appears the Nittany Lions have missed here as well. According to his 247Sports profile, Greene Jr. holds multiple crystal balls to Virginia, which would bring him back to his home state. This situation is concerning, a lot of teams are making moves and improving their weaknesses, but for some reason, Penn State cannot land the big-name wide receivers.
