The Penn State football team still has some uncertainty surrounding the quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting class. Bekkem Kritza is “locked in” with the Nittany Lions, but they would like to have at least two quarterbacks in this class. Matt Zollers is another name that has been circulating the program as a potential QB for Penn State. But don’t count out the No. 1 QB in Maryland, Malik Washington who is set to return to State College today for an unofficial visit.

Malik Washington is a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. According to 247Sports Washington is the No. 1 QB in Maryland and the No. 14 QB in the country. The Penn State football team needs to find another quarterback for this cycle and Washington could be the guy.

Standing at 6 foot 4 200 pounds the Severn, MD native will reportedly be visiting Penn State today according to Brian Dohn of 247Sports. Washington did include Penn State in his final 6 schools in January and made multiple trips to Penn State during the 2023 football season.

Washington’s 2023 season and athletic background

During the 2023 season, Malik Washington led Archbishop Spalding to a record of 10-2. On the field, he completed 62% of his passes and threw for 21 touchdowns against 9 interceptions. He also rushed for 204 yards and 6 touchdowns. But he is a dual sport athlete as well.

On the basketball court, he averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds per game. Washington brings the size and skillset the Nittany Lions are looking for in a future QB. If the visit goes well today, he could be wearing blue and white in 2025.
