One thing that has always been clear regarding Trace McSorley is the fighting spirit that he lives with. The former Penn State football quarterback has always been an underdog and has never let that stop him from achieving his goals. Currently, his goal is to receive his next NFL opportunity. As the former Nittany Lion has returned to Happy Valley to complete drills created by QB whisper Brad Maendler with Drew Allar and Ethan Grunkemeyer.

On Wednesday, a new video surfaced on Twitter / X from Brad Maendler showing a familiar face back in Happy Valley. This of course was Penn State football legend Trace McSorley. The former Nittany Lion standout continues to put in the effort to make an NFL return, he just needs an opportunity.

In the video, it’s clear that McSorley still has the arm strength and accuracy to play at the pro level. But what is also clear is that current Nittany Lions Drew Allar and Ethan Grunkemeyer are ready for the 2024 season. Kickoff for West Virginia is under 45 days away and the quarterbacks are ready for fall camp.

The window of opportunity is so small for a player’s NFL career. Now, McSorley is on the outside looking in on a preseason roster as training camp is about to begin in the NFL. But that hasn’t stopped the Nittany Lion gunslinger from putting in the hours. In fact, he was in Happy Valley on June 10 going through a separate workout with Allar and Grunkemeyer.

In April of 2023, McSorley signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, he was waived at the end of the preseason.

Then, he had stints with the Bears and Steelers last season as well. The Steelers released McSorley in January of 2024, but as of now, he continues to seek his next NFL opportunity.
